Temeraire

Well, it's the weekend! I have homwork, but I'll get to it later. It's still cold out, but I'm still going outside to play.

Thanks to Derek Hart for dropping by and posting. I hope I get to meet him and Thaddeus one day!

I played Star Wars Battlefront with my Dad last night. We do the Capture-the-Flag mode and it was a blast. My father's a pretty good shot when he gets warmed up. The Rebels won and then we switched to the Empire.

I started reading Naomi Novik’s Temeraire, about a dragon during the Napoleonic Wars. It's very cool. I highly recommend it to anybody who likes dragons. It's a continuing series, so I'm sure I read them all.

Speaking of dragons, I watched Reign of Fire recently and was really into it, like I hadn't seen it before. It had been almost a year since I last saw it. The dragons are intense.

I've been putting together a PowerPoint presentation of all the characters in the HALO games. It's pretty cool and I've downloaded it to some friends' computers.

Don't forget to fill out my polls.

Dragons

I'm posting today at the invitation of Thaddeus, who is at school.

Since I'm the author of Secret of the Dragon's Eye and Secret of the Dragon's Breath, Thaddeus thought it would be a good idea for me to drop in once and awhile to talk about the books, dragons and stuff like that, so here I am.

Now Thaddeus isn't your typical dragon, exactly. He's 1,500 years old and has a sweet tooth. He's well aware that sugar isn't good for him, but he's stubborn and he's a dragon. He sometimes breaks the rules, meaning dragon laws, which forbid him to interfere with human events, but Thaddeus gets involved anyway, especially when he knows it will make a positive impact.

Sir Osbert really loves Gavin, Bunty and Emily and takes seriously his role as their protector and teacher. In future books, this attachment grows even more and the dragon must make choices that might anger his fellow dragons, but will make a difference in the outcome of the war.

It's difficult being a dragon that is so attached to humans. It's even more difficult when faced with monumental decisions that could impact the entire planet. Still, old Thaddeus manages to be silly.

Do you believe in dragons? I do. It's not that I've ever met one, but somehow I feel dragons are around us, sometimes dismayed at how we treat each other and sometimes amazed by what we're capable of. If you ever run into a dragon, remember, it might be Thaddeus Osbert.

Back to Blogging

I was sick over the weekend with a fever, cough and runny nose (not good), but was out of school on Monday and Tuesday (okay, until you see how much homework I'll have).

I finished reading Secret of the Dragon's Breath shortly after Christmas. It's really good, better than the first one, with lots of action and a really cool battle between Orcs and Elves, with a dragon making the difference, of course.

I'm currently reading another HALO book, my favorite Xbox game. The Master Chief is so cool. I like the Covenant Elite too. I really wish they would make HALO into a movie.

I don't know about you, but my backpack must have weighed 300 pounds this morning. I'm going to get back strain.

Did anybody see the previews for Prince Caspian? It looks really good, but I have to wait until May. It opens on my Dad's birthday, so we'll go right away, because he wants to see it too.

When you visit my blog, please answer my polls.

More tomorrow, I hope. It depends on how much homwork I really did get.

Been Away

Sorry for being gone so long. I have to go to school. Hey, there's a new dragon book out - Secret of the Dragon's Breath. It's better than the first one. I'll post a cover shot soon.

Read Secret of the Dragon's Eye

Hey Everybody!

Welcome to the Thaddeus Osbert Reading Group! Anybody can join, but most of us are going to be fans of Harry Potter, Series of Unfortunate Events, and the new series - Secret of the Dragon's Eye: Book One. We're usually dumped in the young adult category, but anybody can post. The stuff we talk about will probably be interesting to 11-18 year olds.

Here's the Barnes & Noble link

So, if you haven't read this book yet, take my word for it, it's fantastic.
